Common questions
How the tracking works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.
What is Alcohol Free Tracker?
Alcohol Free Tracker is an app that counts the time since your last drink and shows what you have gained by not drinking. It tracks days, hours and minutes, calculates money saved from what you used to spend, records a short daily check-in, and marks recovery milestones as you reach them. It is listed as Alcohol Free Tracker: Sober on the App Store and Alcohol Free Days Tracker on Google Play.
How does the sobriety tracking work?
You set the date of your last drink when you first open the app, and the counter starts from there. It updates to the minute, so you can see your total in days, hours and minutes at any point. There is nothing else to configure before it works.
Is my data private? Can I sync across devices?
Your check-ins, dates and streaks are stored locally on your device, and no account is required to use the app. You can optionally create a free account to sync across devices and keep your history if you reinstall. We use Firebase for anonymous crash reporting and usage analytics, which is described in full in our privacy policy, and we never sell your data.
What features does the app include?
A precision counter down to the minute, a money saved calculator based on what you used to spend, health milestone badges, daily check-ins for mood and cravings, and a calendar view of your progress over time.
Is it free? What devices are supported?
The counter, daily check-ins, milestones and money saved calculator are free to use, and no account is required. An optional Pro subscription unlocks the full feature set if you want it. The app runs on iOS and Android phones and tablets, and supports 11 languages including English, German, Spanish, French and Chinese.
What if I relapse or need to reset my counter?
You can reset the counter in settings, behind a confirmation step so it cannot happen by accident. Setbacks are common and resetting the number does not undo what you learned during the streak. Some people restart the count; others keep the original date and note the slip separately.
Is it safe to stop drinking on my own?
For most people who drink moderately, yes. If you drink heavily or every day, stopping suddenly can cause seizures and other dangerous withdrawal symptoms, and you should speak to a doctor before you stop. A tracking app is not a substitute for medical care or treatment.
